OK so they’ll only pay you $299 if you claim (less any deductible), but if you think $30 is reasonable for $299 worth of cover, why not do that? As long as you only claim $299 (or whatever the replacement cost is at the time) you’re not defrauding anyone, just ‘over-insuring’ and I’ve never heard of any insurer minding that!
