i am looking for iphone insurance through state farm in orange county (irvine). But no one can qualify!!!?

I called up many state farm agents today and was told that the cost of replacement for an iphone 3g must be more than $400 to qualify for the personal articles policy. It is 30/yr. But who can qualify??? The iphone 3g 16 gb costs only $299. Can someone please clarify how i can qualify?

I’m no expert on US personal lines stuff, so I stand to be corrected, but just an idea.

….. if you’re happy with the $30 a year premium can’t you just insure it for $400?
OK so they’ll only pay you $299 if you claim (less any deductible), but if you think $30 is reasonable for $299 worth of cover, why not do that?

As long as you only claim $299 (or whatever the replacement cost is at the time) you’re not defrauding anyone, just ‘over-insuring’ and I’ve never heard of any insurer minding that!

As I say, don’t know the rules where you are, and personally I wouldn’t pay 10%+ ROL on anything that low value, but thought I’d throw it in as food for thought…
