Nothing is neutral. Every decision we make and every action we take moves us closer to success or failure.

lawyers, military personal, insurance agents, people of america, anybody who can….please help…thank you?

Feb. 14th, 2009 I was in a car accident…I re-ended the person
At the scene of the accident cop wrote no tickets

My car was totalled, he car was fine a lil dented bumper and and minor dents and scratches

At the the site of the accident cop asked any ambalance need and we both said NO

The guys talking to my dad moving around perfectly fine. Telling me its a life lesson son…it happens, atleast were not injuried

So nothing happens, called claims adjustor and filled a claim etc the whole process

My state farm insurance drops me.
August matter fact

And to this day I have no auto insrance no car, I’m working parents nad friends helping me and going to school full-time

I’m trying to join the air force

But now this person I crashed into, is filing a lawsuit against my insurace.
For soreness, money loss, mental issues, all kinds of annoying topics of two-faceism (created tht word). Lol

Can this prevent me from joing the air force, until all this is resovled or can I still join the air force, because its just my insurance company.

And can the guy even start complaining 8 months later?
And how long is this gunna take?

because I wanna serve my country…

Thanks for your help, I really apprecaite your time…thanks
I was insured at the time of the accident and I have a million dollor policy with state farm…also I was third party under my parents, but not under them, just under the home addresse

You can still join the air force.

Most states, you have two years to file the lawsuit – sometimes longer.

Your insurance company – State Farm – will defend you, and pay out for this suit, up to your policy limit at the time of the accident.

But it could take up to a year before this hits court or settles.

~~As long as you pass their stringent testing and background investigations, then you should be fine. This incident would have no bearing, it’s the other information which is the deciding factor.~~

He can’t sue your insurance company – it was not a party to the accident. He will sue YOU. The insurance company should defend you if the coverage was in effect at the time of the accident.

Yes, you can join the Air Force. It is a civil matter. It is not a crime that would cause a serious problem on your background check.

However, you may be required to testify in court and/or at a deposition. If you receive notice that you must attend any legal proceedings, you should immediately notify your superiors so that they can arrange for someone else to be on duty and for flying you to the U.S. if you are stationed overseas.

On the other hand, if he is faking the injury and gets arrested for insurance fraud, and is convicted of insurance fraud, then he might not be able to join the Air Force.

Yes, the other guy can claim an injury even though at the scene he said he was fine. Happens all the time. Some times the injury is legit….some times it’s not. But yes, he can file it.

If you insurance company dropped you…..do you have other accidents or tickets? Usually one wreck won’t get you dropped but each company has their own policies.

Just because State Farm dropped you does not mean you drive uninsured. You need to go speak to agents with other companies or with an independent agent and get another policy.

How long will the claim take? Hard to say. It could easily take 1-3 years. There are a lot of factors that come into play.

Just make sure that your adjuster has good phone numbers/address to reach you and/or your parents. That way, if it goes to court….they can get in touch with you.

I don’t see why it would prevent you from joining the military. I’ve handled claims for folks in the military and just joining the military. The main thing is to make sure the adjuster has a way to get in touch with you….or someone you are always in contact with (that’s usually your parents).
