Does State Farm offer Vacation Home Rental Insurance in California?

I’ve found out the hard way that some Insurance Agents will sell you coverage and one will discover only later (e.g. at the time of claim) that the Policy does not provide the type of coverage required. This can happen at the time of claim (very bad) or at some random point during the life of the policy (not as bad, but one suddenly loses coverage). Many of the large providers (Farmers) have stopped covering vacation rentals and others like Allstate offer no new policies.

I’ve found a State Farm Agent who has offered coverage but is vague enough when I ask questions that I’m concerned. Since there’s no way to contact State Farm directly, I wondered if someone may know the answer to this question. Thanks.

I found a big list of California insurance agents. http://www.findinsuranceagency.com/California-Insurance-Agents.html I’d try calling a few of them and see if they can assist you. A insurance agent should be able to help you.

If you’re not getting answers, drop the agent and find another.

Well – State Farm offers that coverage in PA. But, each state is different – and I don’t know about CA. I don’t know what types of questions you are asking, so I don’t know what to tell you. But, I can say that if they are all “what if” questions, the agent can’t always answer those. I know I have people calling with all types of scenarios that I can’t get a definite answer on as the event hasn’t happened so all details and contributing factors aren’t known. I would either ask the agent to try to get an answer or go see another SF agent if you are that uncomfortable with the current one.
