Nothing is neutral. Every decision we make and every action we take moves us closer to success or failure.

After an accident, does the insurance company write the repair check to you or a body shop?

Will the check by in my name or a body shop’s name?

I have Farm Bureau insurance.

Claims check will normally be made payable to YOU and your LIENHOLDER or LOSS PAYEE. If you own the auto "free and clear", the check will be made payable to you, and then you will pay the body shop your deductible.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

It varies. Sometimes it’s in your name and the body shop’s name and sometimes it’s either/or.

I’ve had it done in a variety of ways: sometimes directly to the repair shop, sometimes to me and the repair shop, and sometimes directly to me.

I take my car to an authorized repair shop, they fax the details to the insurance company and have the repair work approved. They repair the car, I pay my deductible and the insurance company pays the balance. Not all insurance company work that way.
